This is the first in a series of "drip" paintings where the pigment flows across the substrate by gravity. It is flat black on a white ground. The pattern is controlled by the altering the viscosity of the paint and the tilt of the substrate.
On September 9, 1997, Robert Dunn, Jr. died of congestive heart failure in San Antonio, Texas. He was 56 years old.
Bobby Dunn was Julie's ex-husband and he fathered her three boys. She was just 18 when they married. Their 10 year marriage was troubled; they had been divorced for 25 years at the time of his death. High-school sweethearts, they remained friends, particularly during the last 10 years of his life.
